In 2011, our co-founder (a lifelong hammock enthusiast) discovered a ridiculously comfy hammock on a remote island. Inspired, he set out on a journey to spread blissful relaxation around the world. The women who weave Yellow Leaf Hammocks by hand are master artisans. By selling their hammocks globally, they’ve been able to transform their lives, families and communities forever. At Yellow Leaf, we believe two things: (1) the world would be a better place if everyone spent 15 minutes relaxing in a hammock every day; and (2) global poverty will end faster if we can create sustainable jobs for moms in rural communities. Our hammocks are much more than outdoor decor. Each Yellow Leaf Hammock and Hanging Chair is signed by the woman who made it. That’s not just because we want you to feel connected to the origins of your hammock; it’s because Yellow Leaf weavers take pride and feel empowered by their work. Try our hammocks. We want to hear what you think and we want you to join our mission to make the world a better place (from the comfort of a hammock).
Yellow Leaf Hammocks are handwoven hammocks with a positive impact. Our mission is to create high-wage, flexible jobs that empower moms in rural Thailand. From extreme poverty, hammock weavers are able to reach middle-class security. We call this a “prosperity wage.” Creating a good, long-term job for a mother helps transform an entire family forever. Instead of working in the slash amp; burn fields, her children can go to school and build the foundation for a brighter future. Yellow Leaf Hammock weavers take immense pride in their work and their meticulous craftsmanship. Each hammock is signed by the woman who created it, bringing your impact full circle.
Yellow Leaf Hammocks make it easy to relax anywhere. With each hammock, we send you a “Hammocking 101” Guidebook that teaches you how to get it hung up and start relaxing in no time. You can hang your hammock out in the backyard, on the deck or even indoors! We want to make hanging your hammock as easy as possible so you can get to the good part: floating weightlessly in blissful comfort. It takes just a few minutes of effort to create your own oasis to recharge, reflect and rejuvenate. From now on, you'll relax every single day.
Yellow Leaf Hammocks make incredible gifts at any time of year. As Oprah (one of our favorite fans) says, “This hammock is the ideal gift for anyone with two trees and a need to relax.” We were thrilled to be hand-picked as part of the "Oprah's Favorite Things" list in 2017. For years, our customers have loved giving hammocks as gifts that will be enjoyed for years to come. Giving someone a hammock is a way of saying to your loved ones "I see the hard work that you do and I believe you deserve more time for relaxation." That's a message that many of the most important people really need to hear. Plus, each hammock comes packed in a gift-ready tote bag.
